How to Recalibrate Your Perspective on Work, Purpose, and Legacy
I remember seasons where work was just about survival. Punch in, punch out. Collect the check. Do it all again next week. I told myself that’s what being a man was—grind, provide, keep the lights on. And listen, there’s nothing wrong with hard work. Scripture says, “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10).
But here’s where I missed it: I thought that was the whole point. Work to eat. Work to survive. Work until I burn out.
What I learned was… survival isn’t the goal. God called us to sow, not just sweat. To build, not just get by. Work is more than earning a paycheck, it’s about planting seeds that grow into legacy.
That’s why I’m starting this series: “Work to Eat, Sow to Reap: How to Recalibrate Your Perspective on Work, Purpose, and Legacy.”
This series is about shifting how we see work. It’s not just about what you do to survive, it’s about how you live to create impact. We’re going to dig into:
- The difference between working to get by and sowing into something bigger.
- Why your purpose has to be tied to more than a paycheck.
- How your daily grind can either build frustration or build a future.
- What it takes to leave a legacy that outlives you.
I realized that if all I do is work to eat, I’ll never break the cycle. But if I start sowing time, energy, wisdom and resources I set up a harvest that my family and community can eat from long after I’m gone.
This series isn’t about escaping work. It’s about elevating it. Seeing it the way God designed it. Aligning it with purpose. And leaving a mark that matters.
So let’s recalibrate. Because you weren’t created just to survive, you were created to sow.
